West Nile Virus Kicks Off With Confirmed Cases In U.S

Washington (ChattahBox) - It is officially the season for the West Nile virus as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed the first cases of the mosquito-borne illness in the U.S.

The first human cases of the West Nile virus have been confirmed in Arizona, Mississippi, as well as Tennessee by the CDC. The virus has hit many animals as well though in Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, and California.

The CDC has come out and stated that the best way to avoid the West Nile virus is to try and avoid being bitten by a mosquito.

This can be accomplished by covering your body with clothing, cleaning out spots where mosquitoes can gather, etc.

It is clear that the West Nile virus season, though young, is already taking its toll
