Multi-Ethnic Adoption Law Criticized In Study

New York (ChattahBox) - A 1994 federal adoption law called Multi-Ethnic Placement Act has been criticized greatly in a new study, showing that it may not help adopted kids of different races as much as previously thought.

The report was put out by the non-profit Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute, urging change to the 1994 adoption law.

The law was intended to help push parents towards adopting a child of a different race, as they would only have to go through the same training as if they adopted a child of their same race.

The report though states that this is a failed practice as parents who adopt a child of a different race need special training in order to give the child what he or she needs.

Their study revealed that kids who are adopted by parents of different races are at an increased risk of problems compared to parents who adopt kids of the same race.
